An art deco wedding was the unique theme Candice and Vinay chose for their wedding day. They decided that Whistle bear was the perfect venue to make their vision come to life. With a rich colour palette of deep olive green, gold, ivory and blush pink they were able to bring a spring vibe to their art deco wedding theme.

“Born halfway across the globe from one another, Vinay and I met in college over seven years ago and we became immediate best friends. We started spending most of our time together and it quickly became obvious we had feelings for each other. For my birthday Vinay sweetly surprised me by naming a star after me. It was the perfect night and I have never felt so happy. Two days later we were talking and we finally shared our feelings for each other and the rest is history!
Vinay and I are both physically disabled and have each been faced with our share of setbacks. We are both forever grateful to now have each other’s love and support for any challenges that come our way!” – C and V

Reception Location: Whistle Bear Golf Club “After doing some research and looking at pictures online, we made a list of all the potential venues we were interested in and checked them off one by one. When we saw Whistle Bear it checked all our boxes. The entire team at Whistle Bear was very flexible, patient, and accommodating with all our needs and plans, and we honestly just had a fantastic experience with them.”- C

We were immediately so happy with Fedora, not only were they super friendly and easy to talk to, but they offered us excellent packages and were already familiar with both cities/venues we had booked! Having never hired a photographer before, we didn’t really know what to expect for our first (engagement) photo shoot, but Trent made things so easy for us and made us feel very comfortable. It was a lot of fun teaming up with him and coercing Vinay into smiling more!” – C
Colour Palette: “For our reception, we decided on an Art Deco wedding theme, which not only suited our personalities, but was perfect for our venue. Wanting to emulate a “Spring” vibe, but still incorporate rich contrast, we selected a colour palette of deep olive green, gold, ivory, and blush pink.
Committed to our Art Deco wedding theme, we had all our signage, as well as menus and stationery, designed to reflect that style. Decor we wanted to incorporate were feathered florals, candles and candelabras, mirrored and beaded touches, and finally an old-fashioned typewriter and gramophone.
Although our wedding ceremony took place a few days prior to our reception, we were able to incorporate some Art Deco wedding elements into our traditional Indian decor.” – C
Biggest Challenge: “Sticking to our budget was probably one of the biggest challenges we faced. Sitting down and deciding what amounts we were prepared to allot to each service really helped. It gave us figures to go by when looking for the right vendors for our vision.” – C
Best Memory
“Being in a wheelchair, it is almost impossible to have a first dance as a married couple, BUT we figured it out! After a couple minutes of Vinay rocking and swinging me around the dance he surprised everyone (INCLUDING myself!) by scooping me up and dancing with me in his arms! It was so special, and we both remember those moments as one of the greatest highlights of our wedding.” – C&V
Advice from one couple to another: “Start planning early and make lots of time to relax and de-stress together. It’s very easy to become overwhelmed, so just plan ahead and take breaks.” – C
