For this wedding we had so many pride wedding ideas, that it was hard to choose! How lovely it was for this couple to "tie-the-macrame-know" on June 1, the very first day of Pride Month and the official kickoff of Pride season across Canada.
The ceremony unfolded beneath a lush canopy of foliage, and the love radiating from both brides, their delighted guests, and two beaming families was palpable. At Matilyn we celebrate taking pride in who you are and love all year round, and this union felt like a perfect embodiment of that philosophy.
Our research reminded us that the rainbow flag has undergone several revisions since its debut in 1978, inspiring countless variations. After discussing option with our client, we pivoted to one of the lesbian flags as our colour reference. For the cocktail-hour focal point we designed a "Pride Wall" of drinks that transition smoothly from orange to pink, creating a visual gradient that mirrors the flag's stripes. Each mocktail and cocktail was crafted not only to taste exquisite but also to serve as edible art, turning the cocktail hour into a vibrant, yet understated, celebration of love and identity.
The result was a sophisticated, inclusive wedding that honours the couple's aesthetic, respects their Pride expression, and offers a fresh visual story for readers seeking inspiration. We believe this blend of heartfelt narrative and thoughtful design makes the celebration a perfect wedding day.
