Your wedding day timeline will shift depending on factors like the size of your wedding party, whether you’re getting ready onsite or travelling between locations, and, of course, whether you choose to do a first look or see each other for the first time at the aisle. Below, you’ll find sample schedules for both options to help you visualize the difference.

Before diving in, here are a few general time guidelines to keep in mind as you map out your day:

• Hair and makeup: Plan for approximately one hour per person, per service—and always confirm with your artists.

• Don’t forget to allow time to dress

• Travel time: Build in cushion time between destinations and expect the unexpected (traffic, construction, weather).

• Add extra travel time (you’ll want to arrive at the ceremony before guests, so plan to arrive about an hour before the ceremony, if possible, assuming there’s a place to hide out)

• Dinner service: Larger guest counts often mean longer plated-service timelines; your venue or caterer can offer personalized guidance.
