GUEST #: 79

CEREMONY LOCATION: The Rose Chapel

RECEPTION LOCATION: Best Western PLUS Stoneridge Inn & Conference Centre “I remember attending a wedding when I was younger where the ceremony was hosted in the Rose Chapel. I immediately fell in love with how beautiful it was and the intimate feel that it gave. As a little girl I knew it was where I wanted to get married one day. It was the perfect choice for our modern rustic wedding!” – K

PHOTOGRAPHER:Jessica Plantinga “One of our best friends who does photography as a hobby kindly offered to take our wedding photos. It was so special to have someone who means so much to us, be a big part of our day. She did such a beautiful job capturing our modern rustic wedding. We couldn’t be happier with the way our day was captured.” – K

COLOUR PALETTE: “Our theme was what we called modern rustic wedding. We went with a simple black and white colour scheme with pops of eucalyptus green. Embracing the rustic element of the venue, we added wood accents throughout. From our head table backdrop, centrepieces, to our signage.” – K

TELL US YOUR STORY!: “Michael and I met as children, starting school together when we were just 4 and 5 years old. Though we didn’t talk much in those early years, by the end of elementary school, we began spending time together, and our friendship grew. At 14 and 15, we started dating, and from that point on, we’ve been each other’s constants through life’s many changes.

Our journey hasn’t been without its own set of challenges and adventures. We went through high school together, experiencing each milestone side-by-side. After graduation, we both headed off to university, excited to continue learning and growing together. During that time, we created countless memories, from study sessions to late-night chats, each experience strengthening our bond. However, when Michael moved to Kingston for just over a year to complete his education, it was the first time we had to adjust to a long-distance relationship. Despite the distance, our commitment only grew stronger, proving to us both that we could tackle anything together and overcome whatever life threw our way.

After seven incredible years of dating, we decided to take the next step. In January 2023, Michael planned a surprise. Along with the help of our families, I was brought to the Civic Garden Complex where Michael was waiting for me and it was that night that he proposed. Fast forward to this past summer, surrounded by family and friends, we said “I do” and embarked on this new chapter as husband and wife.

It was a day filled with joy, laughter, and a deep sense of gratitude to God for bringing us together. We’re so excited for all that’s ahead, knowing that our unconditional love, deep friendship, and unwavering support for one another will continue to be the foundation of our marriage. We look forward to a lifetime of creating more memories, cherishing every moment, and continuing to grow side-by-side!” – K&M

BIGGEST CHALLENGE: “One of the biggest challenges in wedding planning is the overwhelming number of decisions. From choosing the venue and guest list to selecting décor, colours, and music, each choice feels significant. Balancing personal preferences with practical considerations and others’ input can add to the pressure. It’s easy to get bogged down by even the smallest details, and it takes real effort to stay focused on what matters most. Keeping a clear vision while navigating so many options and opinions can be tricky, but it’s all worth it for a day that truly reflects you as a couple.” – K

BEST MEMORY: “The whole day was the best thing ever! One really sweet moment that sticks out is the car ride to our couple portraits after our ceremony and family photos. We drove to Pinafore Park with our best friends and it was so fun to really take in the fact that we just got married!” – K&M

ADVICE FROM ONE COUPLE TO ANOTHER: “We had many people kindly try to prepare us that something was bound to go wrong at some point during our wedding day. Although this may be true for some, we want to say that you should also be prepared for everything to go right! We had so much help from our family, friends, and our venue that definitely contributed to this.

Our wedding day went so smoothly and we think it’s important to not be worried about things going wrong because they could go also go so right. Remember to schedule little moments throughout the day to take it all in. It truly will be the best day of your lives and these little moments help create really special memories!” – K
