Surrounded by wildflowers, birds, and the golden glow of a summer sunset, Brittany and Brandon celebrated their love at Fermanagh Farms in Tottenham, Ontario. Their vibrant orange and yellow colour palette perfectly reflected their bright, adventurous spirits — a nod to their shared love of nature, birdwatching, and Newfoundland roots. With a ceremony beneath an oak tree, a barn reception full of laughter, and countless DIY details that made the day feel personal and heartfelt, their wedding was a joyful celebration of love, family, and the beauty of the outdoors.
COUPLE: Brittany & Brandon
DATE: August 24, 2024
GUEST #: 100
CEREMONY & RECEPTION LOCATION: Fermanagh Farms "My Godmother, recommended Fermanagh Farms after officiating a couple weddings there in the past. We knew we wanted an outdoor wedding, with forests and gardens on the property and somewhere fairly close to home, this was only 40 minutes away.
The whole team were so lovely and accommodating to work with. They were full of laughs and so easy going and made every request happen.
It was their first time having a ceremony take place under an oak tree on the property that we fell in love with, and they welcomed visits beforehand to ensure we were happy with our vison. The property is thoroughly maintained and features a forest, sunflower and perennial gardens, a pond, a rustic barn with string lights and chandeliers, a bridal and groomsman country suite, and a tiny home for newlyweds to stay the night." - B&B
PHOTOGRAPHER: Thorne to be Wild Photography "My bridesmaid used Leigh-Ann from Thorne to be Wild Photography for her holiday photos, and they always come out so beautifully. I contacted her and she was so down to earth and easy to talk to and excited. For both our engagement shoot and wedding photos, I wanted to ensure we had us surrounded by forest, an ethereal moment, as we like to spend a lot of our time outdoors. I wanted to have a few candid moments, as I knew we would be laughing and full of smiles throughout the whole day. We had a list of must have photos and Sam ensured that the list was complete. I love how the orange popped in the photos, and we even got a beautiful sunset on our special day." - B
COLOUR PALETTE: "Our colour was orange. Not paprika, or burnt orange, but a true, vibrant orange, like the colour of our favourite sky at sunset. We refer to each other as gingers, and it just seemed like an obvious choice being so vibrant. I requested orange, yellow and white wildflowers for my floral theme, with gerbera daisies being the main flower.
We are also avid hikers and bird watchers, so birds were a running theme throughout the wedding, and we wanted our guests to feel rooted in nature on our special day. Orioles (which we spotted for the first time in our backyard just a few months prior) are orange in colour and were featured in a lighted nest as part of the centerpiece.
We also had love birds as cake toppers, a birdhouse made by our neighbors for our cardbox, a Cardinal charm with my mom's picture attached to my bouquet (as she passed when I was a young girl), and a full-size mirror with the message "Looking Good Lovebirds! See You on the Dancefloor" pasted on.
We paid homage to our Newfoundland traditions, as our families are both from there, with DIY crafts, music, and homemade desserts. I visited thrift stores to collect vintage frames for our table numbers, and woodburned ladder shelves for aisle markers which had pictures of past family wedding photos, and photos of Brandon and I.
We also made a big easel for our table seating which read "Please be Seeded' with wildflowers packettes for each guest with their table number. We received many compliments about our attention to detail and it was very unique to us, and it was so rewarding to share our story in such a special way." - B
TELL US YOUR STORY: "Brandon and I met at a mutual friends birthday, back in July of 2019. Brandon's quite tall, and I'm not shy, so I made some sort of comment about his height, and teased him for not being able to finish the chicken wings he ordered (which he inevitably did). The group of us went to another place for dessert, and Brandon and I were so dialed in with one another, and had so many uncanny coincidences, that our friends left the table so we could be alone. We didn't want the night to end, so Brandon called in to his on call shift and invited me to the movies that same night we met. We have not missed a day of talking since.
We always say it feels like we met at the perfect time, and that we were destined to meet. It was both a surprise and a certainty from day one. We have so much in common and love and respect each other so much, it feels like such an easy, trusting love.
We have gone on multiple trips to Newfoundland together, and frequented many forests, provincial parks and local lookouts. We go on various hikes no matter where we travel, and have coined this activity our 'walk and talks' as they always leave us feeling reenergized and we claim there's nothing a long walk can't fix. We also call ourselves 'Bird Nerds' as we enjoy birdwatching and photographing them.
We go kayaking, canoeing and make our own dill pickles and beef jerky to snack on. We have shared many laughs by attending various stand up comedy shows and have gone to multiple concerts over the years. We both have said our sense of humour is what initially attracted us to each other, and I think it's because of our Newfoundland roots, we are able to tell a good story and will always share a joke.
We have a very similar taste in music, and when we began dating, Brandon had begun curating a Spotify playlist, entitled 'Cutie', with an ongoing list of all the music we shared with each other. It currently has over 19hours of music and includes a lot of music we requested for our Wedding playlist.
We participate in each others hobbies, support and encourage each other, and truly make the best of friends. Both of us never envisioned getting married until we met each other, then it seemed quite obvious. We both just knew we would be husband and wife. We have such a strong, successful dynamic, that we get excited about our future together and always have something planned to look forward to." - B&B

BIGGEST CHALLENGE: "From getting engaged in January, to having our wedding in August, there was a lot to plan in a short amount of time. Staying organized and receiving recommendations from friends really helped in completing tasks. I enjoy being creative so I would dedicate my evenings to doing some DIY decor, alongside our neighbours, and check off what was complete as I went along. We made wedding planning fun, and on every 24th of the month leading up to our August 24th wedding, we would have a date night to discuss wedding plans and share in our excitement. The planning felt like divine intervention was helping us along the way, from the venue having a date, my godmother being my officiant, winning my flowers from a raffle, having amazing food, the owner of Bar26 being a friend of mine, to DJ Riyo being family, it felt like everyone came to together to support our love and be apart of such a special union." - B
BEST MEMORY: "It is true that the day goes by very fast, but I distinctly remember being present during our 'Newfie music' portion of the playlist, and how it was the biggest turnout on the dancefloor and Brandon and I were laughing and cheering and having a blast with the ones we love most.
Brandon will say the food and bar service was incredible too. And the sunset that day was perfect. Truly a perfect day. It was an indescribable feeling to have all of your friends and family around to celebrate us and shower us with love and well wishes. We couldn't have asked for more." - B&B
ADVICE FROM ONE COUPLE TO ANOTHER: "I would say to not lose sight of what brings you joy and dedicate time together as a couple to discuss how you envision the day- and visit the venue a couple times before the big day. Also to include some personal touches on your wedding that are a reflection of the both of you. Have fun during the planning process, don't sweat the small stuff- you're going to be the only one that notices if you forgot a particular detail. Anything that happens will make it your own unique experience. And take a bunch of pictures, put them in an album, and show them off to guests in the future." - B&B
