COUPLE: Caitlynn & Josh
DATE: October 11, 2024
GUEST #: 150
CEREMONY & RECEPTION LOCATION: Monthill Golf & Country Club "The venue is local to both myself, Josh, and our families. Being from the Six Nations reserve, it was also very meaningful to have our special day on reserve lands. It also helped that the venue is absolutely breathtaking and was perfect for our dark and moody wedding. The staff were very accommodating and such a pleasure to work with in every aspect." - C
PHOTOGRAPHER: Heart to Heart Photography "We found Stefanyie by checking out one of the wedding shows in our area and actually won a discount that she was raffling off. I was actually looking into booking her when she called to tell me that I was one of the winners! She was the perfect choice to capture our dark and moody wedding." - C
COLOUR PALETTE: "Our theme/colour palette was a dark and moody wedding with a soft romantic feel to it all. With some cottage-core elements incorporated. Our main colours were burgundy/red, emerald green, black, and gold. We had lots of greenery, with red and dusty pink toned flowers, and accents of small dark berries in little clusters. My sister-in-law and I made the custom welcome sign and seating chart as well as some of the other small signs that were used as decor around the venue. There were quite a few custom/DIY elements that were made and provided for the venue to use when they were decorating. They absolutely nailed it with the execution of everything." - C
TELL US YOUR STORY: "Josh and I met in November of 2015 when we were just kids in college. I was freshly 19 and he was barely 21. Our story makes me a true believer in the “red string theory” as we grew up and lived most of our lives only minutes from each other. Imagine how surprised my 19-year old self was to learn that he literally worked at the grocery store that myself and my family frequented throughout the years, yet we somehow never met.
When we did first meet, I was actually visiting an old friend who had just gotten settled into her room in student housing in Welland. Basically as soon as Josh and I made eye contact, it felt like we had an instant connection. That night we ended up going to Clifton Hill in Niagara Falls. We saw Rowdy Rhonda Rousey loose her winning streak. Then went on the Skywheel and shared our first kiss under the volcano at the dinosaur mini-putt place.
Needless to say, when we met it was the whole corny, cliche love-at-first-sight story. That being said though, I really wouldn’t have it any other way. As everyone else in the world, Josh and I had dealt with many adversities before our paths crossed. Because of this I feel that given the life lessons we’d both learned, the love that we have for each other is exactly what we needed to grow heal into the best versions of ourselves.
Josh is truly my best friend, and I’m so excited to go through life with him by my side. Currently, Josh and I have our own home that we’re settling into. We have two of the sweetest, little Bichon-Poodles, as well as our stray “porch cats” that we care for. We’re still at the beginning of our journey together, and we both can’t wait to see what the future holds." - C

BIGGEST CHALLENGE: "The biggest challenge we came across was trying to make everyone happy. The way we tackled it was reminding ourselves that it was OUR day not everyone else’s, and it’s not our job to make everyone happy." - C&J
FAVOURITE MEMORY: "The best memory of our wedding was no matter which room or area you walked into, the entire place was filled with love that night. However, my dad and Josh’s mom’s behind-the-scenes commentary as we were doing pictures was my personal favourite." - C
ADVICE FROM ONE COUPLE TO ANOTHER: "Try not to stress the little things, do what makes the two of you happiest. Save money where you can by getting crafty (or finding a friend who is, to help you). And lastly, savour every moment, the highs and the lows, because you can’t get a rainbow without a little rain." - C&J
