Light and Airy Wedding Inspiration

Bre and Shy wanted a light and airy wedding day that had a neutral colour palette with a pop of blue throughout! Their decor was simple and elegant and completely depicted the two of them. They included lot’s of greenery and candles to really bring their light and airy wedding day theme to life.

CEREMONY & RECEPTION LOCATION: Cambridge Mill “I grew up in Cambridge and I always knew about the Cambridge Mill. As a child I remember thinking one day I might get married there. We went to tour the venue, it was the first venue we toured and we were sold by seeing the ceremony space. The Pavilion is surrounded by windows and overlooks the river. Shy and I absolutely love water and were in love with how beautiful it was.

We knew it was the perfect place to host our light and airy wedding day. The staff was absolutely phenomenal! They were personable, so quick to answer all of our questions and were overall so supportive throughout wedding planning. During the Wedding day, we were well supported by the staff who were continuously checking in on us. They really ensured we had a smooth and stress-free day!” – B

Kait is easy to work with, personable and reliable. We have a strong love for photography and videography and Kait always sends so many photos which we love! The day of the wedding, Kait was actually sick and had to replace herself with Janine (IG: @janinefurtado.photoco). She was also phenomenal to work with and made the day feel smooth and stress-free. She completely captured our light and airy wedding day.” – B

COLOUR PALETTE: “Our wedding theme was a classic, light and airy wedding. We chose a lot of neutral colours with a pop of blue! Our Wedding decor was simple and elegant with lots of greenery and candles. We used primarily neutral tones with the decor. For our bridal party, we had a mixture of bridesmaids and bridesmen. We chose light blue for the girls on my side and a medium blue for the girls on Shy’s side.

Shy’s suit was a medium grey so we chose a light grey for the 2 bridesmen on Bre’s side as well as a bridesmaid on Shy’s side. This colour palette was quite tasteful for our spring/summer wedding! And of course, we cannot forget the pop’s of rainbow! We had a timeless wedding cake on the outside with the interior being layers of Rainbow cake as well as our DIY sparkle shoes with rainbow bottoms! It was these details that made our wedding day so personable and unique!” – B

TELL US YOUR STORY!: “Love at first swipe! Haha! Shy and I met through Tinder, this was actually the first night Shy had ever downloaded the app. We matched on June 7th, 2020 and ended up meeting in person 3 days later! The summer of 2020 we were absolutely inseparable. There was not a day we did not see one another. Whether it be watching the sunset, grabbing some ice cream or going for a drive, we were always together. Just 3 months later, we decided to move in together (fast I know haha!) but there was something neither of us could describe, an undeniable, natural and strong connection.

Shy and I had talked about being engaged and getting married very early on in our relationship. There was a part of us that always knew this was it. Two years into dating, I decided I wanted to propose. I had an entire scavenger hunt planned out for Shy to receive clues from all our loved ones in places that meant something to us – even Starbucks who so graciously gave her the clue. Shy ended the scavenger hunt in Port Dover where I had an entire picnic set up and popped the question! Little did I know, Shy had planned to propose to me just 1 week later to the day at the Royal Botanical Gardens!” – Bre

“I would like to add that this journey we have had together is the biggest blessing I could have asked for to the say the least. Being able to have such a strong and selfless woman by my side, through the accomplishments and downfalls, there is no one I’d rather have besides Bre.

I have always stayed in my comfort zones and was very scared to step out of it, meeting Bre has taught me to be comfortable with being uncomfortable – from going on my first plane ride, zip lining hundreds of miles in the air and trying all of the new foods I never would have tried before. Bre is my other half and I am looking forward to enjoying the married life together!” – Shy

BIGGEST CHALLENGE: “Honestly, I am a type-A person to begin with, I am very organized, love spreadsheets and diagrams! The planning of the Wedding was not super challenging for me. Instead, reminding myself that things are most likely not going to go to plan was the part I was preparing for. I was consistently reminding myself that things are bound to go “wrong” and that is ok! When it came to the big day I was prepared, we had a few things go “wrong” but it only made for the best memories!” – B

BEST MEMORY: “This is a tough one, I will include a few because I cannot simply choose one. Shy and I did a first look, when she turned around I finally felt at peace, Shy was already crying and it was just such a beautiful moment.

After the ceremony while we were taking photos, there was a bird that landed right by us and stayed for 5 minutes singing songs, to us this was a message from our passed loved ones including Oakley and it was beyond special.

During dinner we played a video of my great-grandmother saying Grace at my parents wedding for ours as she passed last summer and it was such a beautiful moment.

During the father daughter dance, my dad and I had planned a surprise choreographed dance which was so fun and special.

Most of all, being able to spend the day side by side, surrounded by our loved ones and hearing everyone say this was the most emotional and beautiful wedding they have ever been to really took the cake for us. It was such a magical day and I am forever grateful.” – B

ADVICE FROM ONE COUPLE TO ANOTHER: “Our advice would be to take it moment by moment, remember why you are doing this – to celebrate YOUR love. Try to do as many personalized touches as you can, it really makes a difference during the day as you know and feel that it is for the both of you. And most of all, remember that things are bound to go “wrong” on the big day, it will make for beautiful memories!” – B&S
