Giselle and Aleksej wanted light spring colours and gold when it came to their wedding colour palette. With that in mind they were able to create a pastels and gold wedding day!
COUPLE: Giselle & Aleksej
DATE: April 6, 2024
GUEST #: 67
CEREMONY & RECEPTION LOCATION: Sassafraz Restaurant “EI knew about the venue because I had dined there before. I always thought it was such a beautiful restaurant. The service is top notch and the food is exquisite. We were looking for a space that we could have both the ceremony and the reception so our guests didn’t have to spend time travelling between venues. While planning the wedding the event coordinator ensured all our questions were answered and she helped our wedding day run smoothly. It was the perfect choice for our pastels and gold wedding.” – G
PHOTOGRAPHER: DA Photography “I met Dragi at a wedding show. His personality and energy is what ultimately made us choose him as our photographer. He really is great at what he does and makes you feel so relaxed and happy when he takes photos. We had so much fun taking our engagement and wedding photos with Dragi! We loved the experience of taking the photos and the candid moments he captured.” – G

COLOUR PALETTE: Pastels and gold wedding. “I wanted light spring colours with a touch of gold for elegance. We had lots of florals and gold accents.” – G
TELL US YOUR STORY: “Seven years ago, I first met Aleksej through a dating site, and we decided to meet for dinner. Our first date took place at a cozy restaurant on a rainy Thursday evening. Despite the gloomy weather, the atmosphere inside was warm and inviting, but what truly made the evening unforgettable was the instant and effortless connection we shared. From the moment we sat down, it was as if the world outside ceased to exist.
The effortless flow of our dialogue, covering everything from our shared interests to our dreams of travel, made it clear that we had found something truly special in each other. We talked about our mutual love for food, and despite being food enthusiasts who typically savor every bite, we were so absorbed in each other’s company that our meal went cold. We connected through effortless conversation about our common interests, families, and travel.
That summer, our bond grew stronger, and we found ourselves falling deeply in love. We spent countless hours exploring new places together, sharing our favorite cuisines, and dreaming about future adventures. Meeting each other’s friends and families brought us even closer, and we both felt a profound sense of certainty that we were meant for each other. Our love grew stronger with each passing day, and it became clear that we were building something truly special.
The journey continued as we found our first home, a place where our relationship took another meaningful step. On our fourth anniversary, surrounded by the very walls where we had built so many beautiful moments, Aleksej proposed. As we continued to travel together, we also busied ourselves with planning our wedding. The entire experience was a joyful adventure, and we couldn’t have been happier with how everything came together. Each step of the journey, from our first date to the wedding, was a testament to the incredible connection we share and the life we’ve built together.” – G

BIGGEST CHALLENGE: “I would say the timing of events throughout the day. We tried to get everyone set up on time and even though certain things didn’t line up with the timeline we still had so much fun and chose to take the day as it goes and make the best of it.” – G
BEST MEMORY: “When the Aleksej’s dad surprised us and our guests with a mariachi band at the reception. Lots of smiles and laughter!” – G
ADVICE FROM ONE COUPLE TO ANOTHER: “Start planning early. Time is your best friend when planning a wedding. Take your time in organizing the details of your special day because on that day there will be a lot going on and without a plan it is easy to forget small important things. Hire a wedding planner if your budget allows.” – G
