Alison and Devon's intimate Millcroft Inn wedding was a heartfelt celebration set against one of Ontario’s most picturesque backdrops. The couple chose a day that perfectly reflected their love for the outdoors, blending historic charm with the beauty of cascading waterfalls and lush greenery. With just 37 guests, their wedding felt deeply personal and meaningful, allowing them to truly soak in every moment. Inspired by the seasonal beauty of peonies, their palette of navy, soft greens, and vibrant floral tones added a romantic, summery touch. Thoughtful, relaxed, and full of genuine connection, Alison and Devon’s intimate Millcroft Inn wedding was a true reflection of what matters most—love, family, and being present in the moment.
COUPLE: Alison & Devon
DATE: June 19, 2025
GUEST #: 37
CEREMONY & RECEPTION LOCATION: Millcroft Inn & Spa "We loved the waterfall. We're both pretty outdoors-y people so we wanted something that blended nature with a bit of history. We loved the charm of the Millcroft and the beauty of the landscape." - A&D
PHOTOGRAPHER: Frances Morency Photography "Frances was a recommendation from the Millcroft. We really like the photo-journalistic style that she offered which really captured the emotion of the day without feeling too invasive. Neither of us are very comfortable around cameras but Frances really made us feel confident and comfortable. The photos turned out incredible and she was able to capture all of our favourite parts of the venue, with all of the people we wanted, and still managed to get us to cocktail hour on time! She was the perfect choice to capture our intimate Millcroft Inn wedding" - A&D
COLOUR PALETTE: "Navy with green accents and a vibrant pink/coral/orange bouquet. Devon has a peony tattoo and my favourite flowers are peonies. We actually ended up choosing our wedding date based on when peonies are in season because I knew that I wanted those to be the primary flower in the bouquet. That was really the inspiration for the wedding, everything had to fit around the peonies... including the dress!" - A
TELL US YOUR STORY!: "Devon and I met just over three years ago through a dating app. Everything just clicked from day one. We bonded over being from the same town (Devon was born there and my family had a cottage there), and it quickly became clear that we had a true connection. After a year of dating we were ring shopping, by a year and a half we were engaged, and a month after that we had bought our first house together.
I think the moment we both knew we were ready to get married was when we met each others' families. Devon understood how important it was to me that they get along and how valuable that relationship was. Likewise, when I met his family, they were so warm and welcoming. Devon has a large family and they made a point to ensure I had met everyone and felt included in all of their festivities. When we were planning our wedding, we knew that we wanted to have an intimate ceremony, but really struggled because we wanted to include everyone. In the end, we were able to have our intimate ceremony at the Millcroft, and then have a big BBQ celebration with the wider family the following weekend. It allowed us to really be able to enjoy the ceremony and live in the moment, while still being able to celebrate with the people who mean the most to us. It was the perfect compromise.
A couple of weeks before the wedding, we celebrated our anniversary. We started reflecting on how much we'd accomplished in three short years, both the good and the bad. It's such an incredible feeling when you meet the person you're going to spend the rest of your life with and you know that no matter what the future brings, you'll have your best friend by your side." - A

BIGGEST CHALLENGE: "No one mentioned how high your emotions are in the lead up to the wedding. It's such an eventful time in your life - you're excited, nervous, and stressed, all rolled into one . It can be a bit overwhelming at times because it can feel like you're being pulled in different directions. For me, my husband and my family were a huge help at not only helping me tackle the to-do list, but more importantly as emotional support. I am really lucky to have such an amazing support system around me." - A
BEST MEMORY: "Being able to share the day with all of our friends and family. I remember looking up from our table and thinking, all of these people came here to celebrate us. It's a wonderful feeling to feel all of the love and support." - A
ADVICE FROM ONE COUPLE TO ANOTHER: "Enjoy it! At some point it will all be over, no one will remember those small details, but they'll remember the feeling of the day. Hold on to that, and remember that at the end of all of this you get to be with the person you love." - A&D
